Education Representative Endorses Castro for Mayor Campaign - San Antonio, TX

State Board of Education Representative, Rick Agosto, announced today his support for the Julian Castro for Mayor Campaign. Agosto’s endorsement joins a list of supporters whose contributions to San Antonio have helped to shape San Antonio.

“Improving quality of life in the midst of today’s economic challenges is no doubt an important calling,” Agosto said. “This is why I have placed my confidence in Julian Castro. He understands the important of preserving San Antonio’s rich culture while fostering an environment that promotes business expansion in a competitive, global economy.”
A critical component of Castro’s campaign is the importance of remaining an attractive location for businesses while advancing growth for businesses of all sizes. In line with a commitment to growth, both Agosto and Castro recognize the integral support San Antonio’s education plays in the fruition of that vision. Business and job expansion must be supported by education initiatives.

“Julian has spoken with me about his strategies to boost the quality of our local education system,” Agosto said. “To remain the competitive city San Antonio has become, we must provide forward-looking education that equips our residents to compete with the best on a global scale.”

Castro, a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, earned his undergraduate degree from Stanford University in 1996 and a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School in 2000. Prior to his current bid for Mayor, Castro represented District 7 as a City Council representative for four years. He currently practices civil litigation with The Law Offices of Julián Castro, PLLC. He has served on the board of Urban Ministries, Family Services Association and the Clear Channel San Antonio Advisory Board.
